Barbecues - free for guest use
Barbecues are a big part of the Aussie way of life, offering a chance to get together with family and friends in the great outdoors and have a laugh together.
Excellent gas barbecues are set up around the Lane Cove Holiday Park and are free for guest use. The barbecues are centrally located close to camping and caravanning sites, as well as to the cabins, making them a social hub for guests at the park. Picnic tables and chairs are set up close by, and across a number of locations, close to the children’s playground for families with children and in quieter more private bushland corners for those looking for a peaceful retreat.
There are also several wonderful barbecues with picnic facilities in the Lane Cove National Park. Some picnic sites are bookable in advance – especially useful for planning birthday parties or group get togethers.
Six picnic areas are situated along the river. Cottonwood Glen is right on the river and Carter Creek is set under the shade of gum trees while Tunks Hill has skyline views of Chatswood and Commandment Rock is a favourite for families with kids for its wide, grassy area perfect for games. It's a 5 minute walk to Scribbly Gum, which has a wood BBQ and a big open area. Halfway Point, Barakee, Lornbark, Echidna, Blackbutt and Peppermint are all within 15 minutes' walk.
Visitors planning barbecues need to check current fire alerts and bans in advance.
